It was warm but windy for the Kitchener, Ontario, Canada version of YT 50K. Eleven of us ran from the Kitchener Y and did three loops about Ron and Barbara Gehl`s house which served as the aid station. It was a wonderful run and everyone was happy. Pat Sommers ran an incredibly fast new age group record for Canada with a 4:00:24. She is 48 years old and does not seem to be slowing down a bit. It was all we could do to try and keep up with her for the first one-third of the race. We are hoping that Pat`s time will be recognized, as the course was very accurately measured (twice) by Ron Gehl. Dave Brown (fireman Dave as he is known about town) did not push himself but enjoyed the camaraderie instead and kept his well known speed for another day; but he still ran a respectable 3:57:00 even. Barbara Gehl and Peggy Sarson womaned the aid station well and even found time for a walk! between our loops of the aid station. See below for the full results.
